THE 100 DAY JOURNEY
Igniting Potential / Creating Connection
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
A MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDER - KATE

"Having permission to go on a creative adventure of discovery and not only that but you'll get personal trainers and a support crew to help you do it. Who wouldn't want to do that?!"
Back in 2017, I found myself in a creative rut and as luck would have it, at the same time an artist I represented at Tutere Gallery asked me if I had heard about the 100 Day Challenge. I hadn't so I looked into it. I discovered that people all around the world were individually trying to complete a project over 100 days. I started to become excited about the possibilities. The simple premise 'do something creative every day for 100 days' was the starting point which doesn't seem that intimidating when you say it right?! But as I started to research and found little real substance available online to support me and talked to people who had tried and struggled to complete the challenge on their own, I saw an opportunity here to create something really powerful that fulfilled a gap. I asked a small group of Tutere Gallery artists to test this 100 day concept out with me as I knew from the get go, success would depend on a team effort and was interested in the dynamics of a shared group experience. Well, its fair to say we were all blown away by the experience and our personal learnings and growth and the reaction to the resultant group show at the end of it was phenomenal. I was inundated with requests from artists to offer them an opportunity to partake in it too! That's when I started to think about this seriously, what was this thing exactly? If I were to offer this to artists as a program what elements would it need, things like, a structure and framework, milestones to work towards, support and accountability from others and an incentive, a reward at the end! This is where my previous life as a process improvement specialist really came in handy but I certainly did not do it alone. Over the seven years we have run it, I have brought some really talented people onboard, people who have experienced the 100 Day Journey for themselves. And each year we continue to refine and improve the experience. Because at the heart of the 100 Day Journey is community. The program enables artists to not only connect more deeply with their art practice and themselves but also with each other. That is why the 100 Day Journey is committed to in person, face to face gatherings along the way. The richness of being physically present together and sharing each others work, challenges, learning and growth can not be replicated online. Many people have told me that the program has 'changed their life' and I believe them as it certainly has changed mine! Biz Hayman, 2019
“I would recommend it to anyone who knows they have something to say or get out there but is stumped with how to begin to do it. It’s just the right amount of time to build up the bravery, figure out your process and absorb the bits that didn’t quite work out as originally planned."
Judith Le Harivel, 2020
"The 100 Days Journey gives me the incentive and permission to take time out to do something that I don't normally do – in this instance making time to experiment."
Deidree Hutchins, 2022
“The level of personal learning and growth has exceeded my expectations. The rewards have outweighed the challenges. Working alongside fellow artists and sharing their journeys has also been a humbling and valuable experience.”
